The drug ibuprofen, developed by the British pharmacologist Stewart Adams and applied for a patent in 1961, has become the most sought-after OTC painkiller in Germany in the last 10 years. Every second over-the-counter painkiller purchased today in pharmacies for self-medication is based on the active ingredient.
With the introduction of IbuARISTO akut in the 200 mg and 400 mg strengths, Aristo Pharma GmbH has responded to the increased consumer demand and further diversified its OTC pain portfolio.
What is ibuprofen used for?
Ibuprofen is used for mild to moderate pain such as headache, toothache or menstrual pain and also has a fever-reducing effect. The active ingredient is also used after sports injuries or for joint problems. Ibuprofen inhibits the inflammatory processes in the body and slows down the transmission and perception of pain. In appropriate doses, ibuprofen can also be administered to children as a drug against pain and fever.
